Rabo Fat Tire Races for kids around the Eneco Tour

Free Cycling Activities at start and finish locations

The Eneco Tour and its partner, the Ready2Race Foundation, are organizing free cycling activities for children. In the lead-up to and during the cycling race, from October 13 through 18, Rabo Fat Tire Races will take place at various start and finish locations.

These activities are part of the Eneco Tour’s public program. They give children the opportunity to ride bikes themselves and get acquainted with the sport of cycling. The Dikke Banden Races take place on or near the course where the pros will later race.

Race Director Roxane Knetemann: “With the Eneco Tour, we want to get people of all ages involved in cycling. The Dikke Banden Races allow children to participate themselves. They get to experience what it’s like to race, with the joy of cycling as the starting point. That introduction at a young age is important for the future of cycling and for our event.”

A huge success in 2025
During the previous edition – then still known as the Tour of Holland – nearly a thousand children participated in the Dikke Banden Races and clinics. This year, the program will continue with activities in Ede, Sittard, Hoogeveen, and Arnhem.

Marjelle van Wijk, manager of the Ready2Race Foundation: “The combination of riding bikes themselves and the atmosphere of a major international cycling event makes these activities extra special. Following last year’s success, we’re delighted to be able to continue this tradition this year as well. Our goal is to inspire the next generation to get on a bike.”
