Smart new mobility partner of the Eneco Tour
This year, the Eneco Tour and smart are joining forces to make the race’s support convoy more sustainable. Starting with the next edition, race directors, officials, and organizers will travel in smart electric cars. This aligns with the sustainability goals of the race’s namesake, Eneco, which aims to lead the way in sustainability through the race.

The Eneco Tour, which starting this year will feature both women’s and men’s races, will take place from October 13 through 18. The event is dedicated to engaging sports fans in the energy transition, in which mobility is a key pillar.
Race Director Roxane Knetemann:
“The Eneco Tour is not a traditional stage race, but an innovative and compactly organized event that showcases the Netherlands’ strength as a cycling nation on the international stage. It combines multiple stages across different provinces, with a strong focus on fan experience, sustainability, and inclusivity. This creates a modern and appealing sports platform: accessible, visible, and forward-looking. With smart as a partner, we can now electrify all of the organization’s vehicles in one fell swoop. That’s a huge step forward for us.”
Sean Veldhuizen, Marketing & PR Manager at smart Netherlands:
“The Eneco Tour demonstrates how elite sports, innovation, and social impact can reinforce one another. That really resonates with us. At smart, we’re working on electric mobility that fits the way people live today and tomorrow: sustainable, practical, and forward-thinking. Cycling is a sport that’s widely popular in the Netherlands and continues to inspire more and more people. We look forward to partnering with the Eneco Tour to showcase our vision for mobility and to contribute to an event that combines sports, innovation, and social relevance.”
